Electronic Medical Records - Care That Travels With You
Several years ago, Monroe Clinic implemented the beginning stages of a multi-year transition from paper medical records to electronic medical records (EMR).  Monroe Clinic is one of the 10-15% of U.S. clinics that has EMR. Throughout 2006 and 2007, electronic medical records will become available to all Monroe Clinic providers for improving patient care.

Patient benefits from EMR are meaningful and far reaching, such as:

• from lab to x-ray to visit summaries, medical team members' simultaneous and immediate access to records at all Monroe Clinic locations
• assured confidentiality through enhanced security
• an advanced medication review system that checks multiple medications to determine any adverse interactions, includes any medications from any doctor
• electronic prescriptions sent instantly to pharmacist during appointment, improving accuracy and timeliness
• an "After Visit" summary, including treatment and medication information
