Monroe
Because surgery is ever-changing, Monroe Clinic strives to stay at the forefront of this exciting field. Our goal is to reduce risk, decrease recovery time, and achieve excellent results. Some of our newest surgical options include both minimally invasive surgery and non-surgical alternatives.
Minimally invasive procedures are accomplished through a smaller incision in the skin, which means less scaring, less risk, less pain, and a faster recovery. In some cases, the procedure is performed though existing openings, such as the nasal passage or throat. Minimally invasive options are available to our patients in the areas of:
- sinus disease
- joint replacement
- colon surgery
- abdominal hernias
- sentinel node biopsies for breast cancer
- reflux disease
- hiatal hernia repair
- appendix removal
Non-surgical alternatives utilize new technologies such as medical imaging and thermal energy to accomplish treatment without any surgical incision. Imaging technologies, such as pill-sized camera to or a three-dimensional “virtual colonoscopy,” are just two examples. We are also harnessing the power of thermal energy to treat chronic illness, such as sinus obstruction or GERD.
Because these new surgical options and alternatives are not for everyone, we work closely with each patient to determine the proper course of action. Even “traditional surgery” is not necessarily traditional, because our surgeons bring the most modern advancements to the operating room to offer our patients the best surgical outcomes.
