Why Monroe Clinic?

Why Monroe Clinic?

When you consider which Family Medicine residency to apply to, you have many choices.  So why choose Monroe Clinic Rural Program?

Here are several good reasons, in no particular order.

1. Excellent rotations not only at Monroe Clinic, but also at SwedishAmerican Hospital, Rockford Memorial Hospital, and the opportunity to pursue electives at rural rotation sites offered through the Wisconsin Collaborative for Rural GME.

2. Exceptional learning opportunities offered by family medicine faculty, expert specialists on all rotations, and through training sessions offered by Monroe Clinic, UIC Rockford, and Des Moines University.

3. A Family Medicine minor procedures/dermatology clinic that is run by faculty member Dr. Eric Anderson that will provide you with the opportunity to master a variety of derm procedures.

4. Opportunities for elective rotations that reflect your own interests to customize your experience.

5. Unique opportunities to teach medical students, participate in research, and present at UIC Rockford or Des Moines University during research days.

6. State-of-the-art training facilities, which include a LEED (Green Building Design) Silver Certified Hospital that opened in 2012.  Residents also have the opportunity to utilize a new patient simulation center with two high fidelity mannequins that opened in 2014.  Ultrasound training is available for residents wishing to develop skills in the emergency department and inpatient settings.

7. Family medicine physicians representing a variety of practice options including inpatient, outpatient, emergency medicine, palliative medicine, minor procedures, and more!

8. Small program size (2-2-2) allows for more access to attendings, procedures, and the flexibility to meet your individual goals.
