Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System

Take our online joint pain assessment.

Listen to Mike Nevil share his joint replacement experience at Monroe Clinic.

Are you living with joint pain? Is it keeping you from activities you enjoy, or making work difficult? Most patients who pursue a joint replacement to alleviate this pain wish they had done it sooner! And at Monroe Clinic, the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System (Mako) has transformed the way knee and hip replacement surgeries are performed.

Mako offers the following benefits:

  • Using CT-based imaging, surgeons create a personalized, three-dimensional surgical plan, identifying the optimal implant size, orientation and alignment specific to each patient.
  • Throughout each procedure, the surgical team continually makes adjustments as the surgeon guides the robotic-arm to execute that plan. These real-time adjustments allow the team to accurately align each implant to fit the unique anatomy of each patient.
  • Most patients whose joint replacement was done with Mako can expect less bleeding, fewer complications and a quicker recovery time.

Monroe Clinic is the only health care facility in our service area utilizing the Mako system, and both of our orthopedic surgeons, Drs. Lance Sathoff and Jonathan Swindle, are Mako--certified. Anyone interested in scheduling an orthopedic consultation for Mako-assisted procedures, or learning more about treatment options for muscular, joint or bone issues, should contact the Monroe Clinic joint care coordinator at 608-324-2453.
