How many residents are selected each year?

We accept 2 new Family Medicine Residents each year for a total of 6 residents. 

What are the requirements for applying to the program?

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.  Our program does not sponsor visas.  Candidates must have graduated from medical school within the past 5 years.  Applicants must pass the COMLEX steps 1 and 2 prior to starting residency with no more than 5 total attempts.   Meeting our minimum criteria will allow the application to be reviewed.  Interviews are granted based on review of the entire application.

What is the application deadline?

December 31st.

Are there other AGCME/AOA residency programs at Monroe Clinic?

 No, this is an unopposed program.

 What is the call schedule like?

During the 1st in Rockford the residents take call once every 5-7 days.  In the 2nd and 3rd year, residents take home call once evening per week and one weekend per month. 

What types of amenities are available to Monroe Clinic residents?

Monroe Clinic offers resident physicians many amenities, including free parking at the main clinic, meal allowances while on hospital duty, as well as an on-site employee fitness center.  Residents also receive a laptop computer and smart phone to use throughout residency.  Our program also provides residents with membership to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and American Academy of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP).  Residents receive 20 days of combined time off.  Additionally, residents are provided with medical/dental insurance, liability coverage, life insurance, short term and long-term disability insurance.  A full summary of benefits is provided to candidates on interview day.
