Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also called physiatry, is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nerves, muscles, bones and brain and their effect on movement.

From a patient recovering from a stroke or sports injury to a person struggling with pain issues that have made it too difficult to exercise, PM&R physicians support a diverse range of individuals seeking to break down barriers to physical function.

With a thorough understanding of each patient’s unique condition and limitations, they offer a comprehensive, personalized program to address medical, social, emotional and vocational concerns with a goal of enhancing performance and quality of life. If you think you might benefit from physical medicine and rehabilitation, talk to your primary care provider.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is located on the second floor of Monroe Clinic's main campus. Patients check in at the Rheumatology desk. Click here for a building map (scroll to page 4) in English or Spanish
